Memorial Day Ceremonies and Parade, May 25, 2015
We have a full schedule of events planned for Memorial Day this year. It will include two ceremonies, a parade, breakfast and lunch at the Franklin Veterans Club. This event is open to all. The day starts off with a sunrise service at 06:00am at the flag pole on the hill located in the Bayview Cemetery on Route 182 in Franklin. This event is for the more hardy souls who enjoy the magic of an early morning ceremony. It will last approximately 20 minutes. Following the cemetery ceremony breakfast will be served at the Franklin Veterans Club from 6:30am to 8:30am. This is open to all at no charge, donations will gratefully be accepted. At 09:00am line up begins at the Franklin Veterans Club for the parade. The parade steps off from the Vets Club parking lot at 09:30am and proceeds west past the Franklin Trading Post to Memorial Square at the intersection of Route 182 and 200. The parade will be comprised of fire equipment, Color Guard, Veterans groups, Cub Scouts, Junior Basketball teams, horses, antique vehicles and much more. Upon arriving at Memorial Square at 10:00am there will be the primary ceremony expecting to last about 45 minutes. All are invited to lunch at the Franklin Veterans Club starting at 11:00am. Any Veteran who would like to be in the parade will be given a Veterans shirt and hat. Line- up is 09:00am.
We hope that everyone takes this opportunity to show their support for our Veterans both living and deceased. Please take the day to contemplate the sacrifice made by so few men and women for so many. Where would we be if they had not risen to the call?
